'Pastoral Care'
Peckover School offers support and signposting to children and families regarding behaviour, attendance, medical issues, bereavement counselling, mental health support, foodbank, finances and general pastoral care. Parents are welcome to make an appointment with Mrs Tombleson (Inclusion Manager) to discuss any problems or concerns that they may need support with. All meetings are confidential with a view to further support from external agencies when necessary.
Working alongside Mrs Tombleson is Jurate Trumpickiene our Education Inclusion Family Advisor. Jurate works closely with Peckover School and supports parents with many issues, holding meetings in school, as well as at pupil’s homes. Jurate is happy to receive emails and phone calls from parents and will meet on request.
The school operates a nurture group to support pupils in school who need a little extra pastoral care and also an ‘Eagles’ lunchtime club to help support pupils to have successful lunchtimes.
Supporting Young Carers at Peckover
At Peckover, we are committed to supporting young carers. We understand the unique challenges they may face and strive to provide a supportive environment where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Young carers are young people under the age of 18 who provide care, unpaid, for a family member with an illness or disability, mental health condition or an addiction.
Our Support Offerings Include:
Young Carers Group: A safe space for young carers to connect with peers, share experiences, and access additional support.
1:1 Support: Our dedicated Young Carers Champions (Louise Tombleson and Esther Fletcher), are here to provide personalised support and guidance to young carers and their families.
Flexible Academic Support: We offer homework extensions to accommodate the responsibilities of young carers.
Staff Training: Our staff members undergo specialised training to better understand and support the needs of young carers.
Assemblies and Events: Regular assemblies and events to raise awareness and celebrate the contributions of young carers.
Additional Resources:
In addition to our school-specific offerings, we also provide referrals to external organisations such as Centre 33 for Young Carers Assessments. (LINK TO C33 WEBSITE: Caring - Centre 33)
At Peckover, we are proud to be young carer-aware. Our goal is to ensure that every young carer feels supported, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.
