Compass Primary School

Principal's Welcome

Kate Kendal

Welcome to Peckover School

Peckover is a large primary school in the heart of the thriving market town of Wisbech. We are lucky to have a diverse and vibrant community where everyone feels safe and special. It is a happy place to learn, where children, staff and parents are valued and welcome- a place where we all work together to achieve the best for each individual child. We are proud that OFSTED recognised this in our school: ‘Peckover provides a very caring and supportive environment for pupils and families, and plays an important part in the local community.'

Our Ethos

We listen to children; they are fundamental to all we do in school. We value their input and want them to feel a part of making their school a better place. Our PROUD core values represent

P Perseverance

R Respect

O Opportunity

U United

D Do our best

And are an integral part in our earning behaviours and how we behave as responsible citizens.

We aim to provide a curriculum which challenges, excites and ignites curiosity in our children and will enable them to become successful, lifelong learners.

We offer an irresistible integrated curriculum, rich in memories and opportunities. We believe children learn best when they are given first-hand experiences; why show a child a picture of a river in a book, when they could put on their wellies to explore?

Our classrooms are themed to enrich the experiences children have every day at school and provide and exciting environment to learn in:

There is a strong emphasis on the teaching of basic skills of reading, writing and maths to the highest standard. In order to commit these basic skills to long term memory, we repeatedly and relentlessly refer to them in all aspects of learning. Our children are ever challenged to be the best they can in all aspects of school life.

The arts and IT are central to our ethos in enhancing our curriculum and children’s enjoyment of school. As a result, we have high academic success.

In 2013 we took the exciting step to join the Brooke Weston Trust. This means that we benefit from being part of a larger and extremely successful academic organisation and having access to facilities and opportunities beyond a school’s normal scope.

We welcome you as parents and carers. We look forward to working with you in order to support your child throughout their time at Peckover and helping them achieve their aspirations for the future.
