Governance

"Peckover doesn’t just educate children, it empowers families, embraces every child’s journey, and creates a community where every voice is valued. I’m proud to give back to the school that has given our family so much."
— Sarah Dodkin, Parent Governor, Peckover Primary School

Welcome from the Chair

GSAA very warm welcome to the governance pages for Peckover Primary School.

As Chair of Governors, I’m proud to work alongside such a dedicated team of staff and fellow governors, all committed to ensuring that every child at Peckover has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Peckover is a truly special place, with a strong sense of community, ambition, and care running through everything it does.

My professional background is in business transformation and leadership development, and I enjoy bringing that experience into my work with the Trust. I first became involved with the Brooke Weston Trust as a parent when my eldest son joined Brooke Weston Academy in 2019, and then more formally in 2021 as a member of the Finance and Resources Committee. I have served as Chair of Governors at Peckover since 2024. It’s a role I value deeply, both for the chance to support our brilliant school and for the learning it gives me in return.

Together, our governing board provides support, challenge, and strategic oversight to help Peckover continue to build on its strengths and deliver the very best outcomes for every child.

Thank you for visiting our website and for taking an interest in our school.

Warm regards,
Grace Salaman

At Peckover Primary School, the Local Governing Board (LGB) plays a vital role in supporting strong leadership, holding the Principal to account, and ensuring high standards for students and staff. As a committee of the Trust Board, governors meet at least three times a year to challenge and support the school’s performance, safeguard its values, and ensure it is meeting the needs of its pupils and community.

Peckover Primary is part of the Brooke Weston Trust, a multi-academy trust. The LGB acts as a local committee, gathering insight and information that supports the strategic work of the Trust Board and helps inform decision-making at a trust-wide level.

Working closely with the Principal, Directors of Education, the Governance Team, and Trust leaders, governors:
• Help shape strategic priorities and ensure accountability
• Monitor educational outcomes and compliance
• Ensure pupil wellbeing, inclusion, and behaviour remain high
• Represent the local community and maintain strong relationships with families and stakeholders

We follow the Trust’s 4S model of governance, which focuses on:

  • Standards,
  • Safeguarding,
  • SEND,
  • and Stakeholders.

This ensures that governors concentrate on the most impactful areas for school improvement and pupil success.

Local governance is essential in upholding the Trust’s mission to ensure that no child is left behind, and that every student receives the best possible education and a ‘ticket for life’.
